It is the name given to a small feline found in Costa Rica, Panama, western Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia (also in some sectors of Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana and Suriname). Its scientific name is Leopardus tigrinus. It is also often called tigrillo or tiger leopard.
