TEPEPAN Place near Mexico City. This remarkable and ancient locality in the ancient period housed a temple dedicated to Tonantzin, mother goddess, which was widely venerated and most famous at Tepeyac, site of the current Basilica of Guadalupe. In Nahuatl, Tepepan simply means "on the hill."
