There is no agreement on its origin, but it is probably inherited from an ancient Spanish form of exclamation to call a person used in the sixteenth century as 'Ce!' ( pr . tze) that in Valencia already had its version 'che, xe o ge', and that surely come from the Latin tst, st. There are also theories about an American origin, since in Araucano 'che' means "man, people". See Zutano . 2º_ In Guaraní it is used in front of the name, title or position as an expression of respect, since it means "I, my, mine". 3º_ 'CHE' is the IATA code for Reenroe Airport in the city of Caherciveen (Munster, Ireland).
