In Costa Rica it is the name of a District, which belongs to the Province of Puntarenas, in the Canton of the same name. It is the head and is a hamlet. It means relative to mahogany or mahogany (a giant tree of excellent wood), or also that it has the appearance of that tree, whose scientific name is Swietenia macrophylla and belongs to the Family Meliaceae.
