INJUN nickname that was used in the United States and Canada to name the native Indians, to differentiate from the Indians of India, which is where Christopher Columbus thought he had arrived. Subsequently the term was used only by children, but not in pejorative character, since the natives are admired by the white population. Today, depending on the intonation and phrase can be used in pejorative tone or not.
