Although I find it impossible to connect them philologically, I make a parallel between the Guatemalan voice 'shume' and the lunfardo rioplatense shiome or shome, since it sounds a lot to be a local version, which means almost the same: "poor, ordinary, low level". Of course the original would be lunfa, as it is a typical vesre for mishio. See also mishiadura .
