Wawa in Quechua native to Peru is boy or girl infants, "wawita" is a diminutive castanized with the suffix "ito" or "ita". In this case "wawita" means little girl or little boy. To say "baby" the diminutive in Quechua for "wawa" is "nail" but used as a prefix, "wawa nail".
