The Circumcellions considered martyrdom as the true virtue Christian ( as the father of the Church Tertullian said: " the day of the death of a martyr was actually his birthday " ) and therefore disagreed with the episcopal see of Carthage on the primacy of chastity, sobriety, humility and charity.
