2. f. annual herbaceous plant native to America, in the family Solanaceae, with stems of one to two meters long, hairy, hollow, fragile and ramosos; somewhat hairy leaves cut into unequal segments toothed edges and yellow flowers in simple racemes. It is much cultivated in gardens for its fruit, which is the tomato.
