It is the name of several infectious diseases, characterized by producing a very high fever, headache, chills and a generalized rash (Exanthem). The genus Rickettsia bacteria produce it and it is usually transmitted by bites of insects like lice, ticks, mites and fleas infected. Medically referred to as typhus.
