In computing, a keyboard is a peripheral input or device, partly inspired by the keyboard for typewriters, using a provision of buttons or keys, that act as mechanical levers or electronic switches that send information to the computer. After the punch cards and paper tape, interaction via teletype-style keyboards became the primary means of entry for computers.
