1. adj. Zool. It is said of the protozoa marine of the class of the Rizópodos, with a membrane that divides the cytoplasm into two concentric zones, of which the exterior emits pseudopods fine, long and United together to form networks. They can live isolated, but are sometimes gathered in colonies, and mostly have a skeleton formed by very thin needles or siliceous rods, loose or articulated between them. U t. c. s. m.
