In Greek mythology it is the name of Castor's twin brother. They were sons of Zeus and Leda. He was the brother of Helen of Troy and Clitemnestra. It was also called Polideuces or Polideuco (which means very sweet). Name of a shining star from the Constellation of Gemini.
