It is a word of Greek origin meaning "first birth". In Greek mythology, the name of the sister of Epicasta, daughter of King Calydon and Aeolia. Protogeneia with Ares, were the parents of Oxylus of Aetolia. Also name of an asteroid ( 147 ) .
