It is a kind of cactus that lacks a thorn and is used in Mexico in various rituals. It contains mescaline which is a strong alkaloid. It is also used in traditional medicine. It is also called jícuri. Its scientific name is Lophophora williamsii. It belongs to the Cactaceae family. It is a succulent plant from the deserts of Mexico and the United States.
