Dualistic Christian sect of Manichean tendency, initiated in the seventh century in the eastern areas of the Byzantine Empire, Anatolia, Armenia, Bulgaria, then spread throughout the Balkans. Some of his ideas are present in the Bogomils and later Cathars.
