Paraclitocomo will not happen in any other place in New Testament literature, in the Gospel according to John, the Holy Spirit will be called Paraclete. This name has four appearances in total in the New Testament, and Jn. 14, 16.26; Jn. 15, 26 and Jn. 16, 7. The term comes from the Greek parakletos, which is next to one, in the sense that comes to aid. Why was it used, in the courts or tribunals, to appoint lawyers or legal assistants. At the first appointment on the Paraclete ( cf. Jn 14, 16 ) Jesus says that will come is, in fact, another Paraclete, which obliges us to identify the first. It will be in 1 Jn. 2, 1 where will give us the track: do if any man sin, we have an attorney before the father: Jesus Christ, the righteous do.?? Here, translate by lawyer what paraclete. Our first Defender is Jesus, and the other sent by the father is the Holy Spirit, which we also defend, remain with us forever. This is its another key feature: comes to stay, to remain. It expresses the transformed presence of God after the pascua-ascension, when Jesus is no longer physically, but yes the spirit, being clear that God does not abandon, he modifies his existence among human beings. In the second appointment ( cf. John 14, 26 ) Paraclete is synonymous with Holy Spirit, which will teach and remember what Jesus said. The spirit is teacher and guide. The words of Jesus are not static, not been time or belong only to the arbitrary interpretation of the very first Christian communities. The spirit, which remains forever, still teaching and recalling, across generations, a word that is dynamic and effective both yesterday and today, affecting, it mobilizes, that directs, which pushes. The third cited ( cf. Jn. 15, 26 ) identifies the Paraclete with the spirit of truth, who will give testimony of Jesus. It is a task purely missionary. Bear witness, bear witness, is to evangelize, share the good news. The Holy Spirit acts in the hearts as a witness of the Christological event, and trains disciples to witness, in the same line of what happened in the story of acts of the Apostles, when after Pentecost, Peter takes the floor in his first public speech ( cf. acts 2, 14ss ) and three thousand people converted to hear it ( cf. acts 2, 41 )The fourth and last appointment ( cf. Jn. 16, 41 7; is somewhat confusing; Jesus says that it is convenient that he will so come the Paraclete. Misunderstood, this statement has to sense Gnostic, with a Jesus who almost commits suicide so that pupils can receive the Holy Spirit. We can encourage us to interpret that phrase is a literary resource so that the disciples understand that the change in the presence of God, of Jesus to the Holy Spirit, is not a loss. It is suitable that things happen as well, because the spirit manifests.According to Word of the mission
