In Chemistry it is a derivative of Hydrokinin. It is also called ethylhydrocuprein hydrochloride. It is an alkaloid that is obtained or extracted from Quina. It is used for the control of Pneumococci. In Bacteriology it is used to differentiate Streptococcus pneumoniae or Pneumococcus.
