1. f. plant of the family of las Palmas, about three meters tall, with trunk straight and gnarled, almost circular leaves of a underground approximately in diameter, games ensiformes lacinias gathered by the apices, greenish flowers, separated the male of female, but all in a same stalk and fruit in Hostas drupe, blackish, hard on the outside and estoposa from the inside barkcovering a very consistent nut. It abounds in the marshes of the intertropical Pacific Islands. Its leaves are regular tissues, especially roofs for shelters or houses of cane and table of indigenous peoples.
