In Botany it is the name of a genus of ferns, which belongs to the family Lomariopsidaceae. The representative species is Nephrolepis exaltata, which is well known as crespo fern. In nurseries have popularized the term, so nephrolepis or nefrolepis are also considered common names of this plant.
