It is one of the common names of a very venomous snake. Its name comes from the Nahuatl "nahui-yakatl" meaning four noses, which is another of the common names of this snake. It is also known as velvet, yellow beard, mahuaquite or Ikbolay. In Colombia it is called mapanare, talla equis, equis, mapaná or cuatro noses. Its scientific name is Bothrops asper and it belongs to the family Viperidae.

NAUCAYA large venomous snake from Central America, which comes to measure 1 . 5 to 2 . 3 m long. The head is triangular (much wider than the neck). the upper part is brown and cream yellow even on the sides and belly. The eyes are large with vertical pupil and behind these present a brown line.
