Mamger-mille expression used in the French-speaking area of Africa to designate a corrupt gendarme or policeman who, under any pretext, detains a vehicle to require its indulgence. The expression originates from the time that the usual amount of the coima is 1000 French francs. This expression is a word game based on a West African bird called manger-mil (eat-thousand or eat-look) that feeds on wiser (thousand in French).
