It is the plural of manao. In Colombia and the Amazon basin is a way of calling the Tayassu tajacu of the Tayassuidae family. It has other common names: Pecari, zaino, pork manao, marrano mountain. The name of a Brazilian city, port on the Amazon (Solimões) River and Capital of the State of Amazonas. In Tupi means "Mother of the gods".
