Magnetar (from Wikipedia) : A magnetostar is a type of neutron star powered by an extremely strong magnetic field. It is a variety of pulsars whose main characteristic is ejection, in a short period (equivalent to the duration of a lightning bolt), of huge amounts of high energy in the form of X-rays and gamma rays. The magnetic field impairs the emission power of high-energy electromagnetic radiation, mainly X-rays and gamma rays.
