It refers to the group of nations and people who speak Spanish and Portuguese throughout the world, and the only two universal languages that are mutually comprehensible in broad strokes. These two languages of common origin are present in more than 30 countries on four continents (21 Spanish-speaking countries and nine Portuguese-speaking countries).
