It is a plant (the only species) of the genus Ricinus and genus of the Family Euphorbiaceae. Gets the common names of Castor, castor, Spurge, higuereta, higuerilla, infernal fig. Castor oil is extracted from it. Its seeds are quite toxic and can cause death or severe damage to the liver and kidneys.
