1. adj. Bot. Says the Angiosperms monocot plant with cylindrical stems, commonly holes, interrupted stretch on stretch by filled knots, alternate leaves that are born of these knots and hug the stem, simple flowers arranged in spikes or panicles, and dry seed covered by scales of the flower; e.g., wheat, rice and bamboo. U t. c. s. f.
