1. adj. Bot. It is said of cryptogam plants pteridofitas, herbaceous or Woody, with a horizontal underground stem which arise numerous roots on the one hand and the other leaves composed with many leaflets. U t. c. s. f.

2. f. pl. Bot. Class of these plants, known with the name of ferns.
