FARISEO from Latin farisaeus and east from the Greek pharisaios, and this from the Aramaic pharisaya and this from the Hebrew perusim, separated (from the others) Jewish sect that appeared austerity and rigor, but which eluded the precepts of the law, in particular, its spirit.
