It means well-protected six-stripe animal. It's the scientific name of an animal in the armadillo family. It is known as ttoú poyú, hairy tatú, peji, armadillo armadillo or gualaclate. It belongs to the Chlamyphoridae family. It is found only in the Gran Chaco region of South America, although an isolated population was found in Suriname.
Euphractus sexcinctus : Species of cingulated mammal of the family of chlamypharids called gualacate and known as tatú poyú , tatú luludo , pejí and armadillo amarillo. It is solitary, terrestrial and inhabits open areas of jungles and grasslands. It is omnivorous and inhabits caves and is usually more daytime than night.
