It is one of the names that receives a plant and its fruit. In Colombia we also call it carambolo. It is a shrub belonging to the family Oxalidaceae. It also receives other names, such as: bird, carambolera, torombolo, chiramelo, miramelo, Chinese tamarind, tamarind culí. Its scientific name is Averrhoa carambola. It is an oval and starry fruit. When cutting it forms a perfect 5-pointed star. It's very acidic and fibrous.
