Probablemne're mistaking prefix suffix. The prefix is a particle which leads the word, e.g. National Bi, which corresponds to two Nations. Instead, the particle that ends a nbsp; Word is called a suffix. In this case, the PHAGE suffix comes from the Greek and means "Eating" or "that feeds of", e.g. "Antropofago" (from the Greek Antropos = man; Phage = eating. I.e., which is chewed to other human beings.
