It is a small bird of the family Columbidae. It also receives the common names of tortolite, Peruvian zenaida, cuculin pigeon, melodic dove or white wing pigeon (in Chile and El Salvador). Its scientific name is Zenaida meloda. Also known as cuculí or kukurí. The term is of Aymara origin.
