The colénquima is a present in young and herbaceous plants supportive tissue. The name comes from the Greek: " " " rubber tail " name given by the ease with which the cell walls become swollen to hydrate it. It provides flexibility to the young stems, petioles and nerves of the leaves. Their distribution is usually subepidermal ( below the epidermal tissue ).Is composed of living cells ( unlike the 41 esclerénquima; and elongated, rich in water and substances pectic observed bright in the optical microscope, and the thick cell wall composed of cellulose.
