It means gray. It is also the name of a small shrub in Colombia. Its scientific name is Achyrocline bogotensis and it is of the family Asteraceae. They also call several plants of the genera Abarema and Adenocarpus of the Fabaceae family and others of the genus Chenopodium and the family Chenopodiaceae. Cenizo was the nickname of Jorge Amado Nunes for the color of his hair.
