It is said of trees or shrubs belonging to the family of the Ulmáceas, with leaves alternate, entire or sawn, almost always with three nerves, deciduous Stipules, Flowers hermaphrodite or Unisexual, solitary, in raceme or panicle, for fruit fleshy drupe containing a single seed; e.g. the Hackberry. U t. c. s.
