Hollow neural tube in dorsal position, gill slits and tail, at least at some stage of the embryonic stateCephalochordates (Cephalochordata from the Greek ?????? kephalé, "head" and ????? khordé, "rope"), acranials or amphioxus, also called leptocardia (class Leptocardii), are a subphyle of chordates.
