(Of Bromelia, name of a genus of plants dedicated to Bromel, the Swedish botanist of the 18th century).

It is said of weeds and bushes Angiosperms, Monocots, usually annually and root fibrous, often parasitic, with leaves gathered at the base, envainadoras, rigid, seamed, toothed and thorny margin; flowers in Spike, raceme or panicle with a bract and berries fruits or capsules with albumen starchy seeds; e.g. the ananas.
