Meaning of arica

arica: Arica is the name of a province and a Chilean city. In the Colombian Eastern Plains it is one of the common names of a reddish bee that produces wax and honey. Also, arica is an inflection of aricar, which means to plow superficially or dig.; ARICA: Bee wild.; Arica: Chile city in the province of Tarapacá. It is capital of the Department of its name. By the Chileno-Peruano Treaty of 1929, Arica became definitively part of Chile.
