Acacitli (or Acazitli) means in Nahuatl, Rod Hare, Hare sugarcane. It was the name of one of the founders of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec Empire. Father of the founders, according to Chronicles. Also Acazitli or Acaxitli, was the nickname of Juan de Sandoval, a Mexican leader who supported the viceroy Antonio de Mendoza with his men to suppress the revolt of the chichimecas.
