Said of dicotyledonous flowering plants, shrubs and herbs, have stem and nudosos ramos, opposite leaves, flowers of five petals, axillary or Terminal and rarely solitary, and for fruit a membranous, leathery or cartilaginous box containing several seeds without albumen; e.g., the acanthus.
