Diminutive and derogatory of Manuel and Manolo. Stage name of a Spanish bullfighter, whose real name was Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez. A type of Spanish sweet puff pastry, typical of Andalusia. Named after a 2008 film by Menno Meyjes, starring Adrien Brody and Penélope Cruz, in the lead roles.

1º_ Hypocoristic diminutive of Manuel through Manolo with the suffix -ete . 2º_ A type of sweet puff pastry cake traditional from Andalusia (Spain). The name is related to the bullfighter Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez, who was called Manolete, and there are several anecdotes about it, such as that on his visit to Mexico he found a dessert very similar to the Cordoba cake, but in individual portions, and that he took it to his lands where he became known by his nickname in the 1940s.
