It is another common name given to the giant mesquite bug. It also receives the names of mesquite worm, red bug, cocopaches, chacas, tantarrias, chinche, chagüis, xamues, xagües or xamuis. Its scientific name is Thasus gigas and it belongs to the Coreidae family. They are sap-sucking insects.
