tucumán
  6

Tucumán is the name of an Argentine province, whose capital is San Miguel de Tucumán. The origin of the name is unclear and there are many hypotheses; as a deformation of Sucumán, name that the diaguitas solco gave to their territory, which later was also known as Yucuma or Yucumán, although Tucumanao, Tucumangasta or Tucumanita tribes are also mentioned; So it is assumed that the name is related to some local characteristic, since precisely man means "the place, the direction", and tucu tucu is a common insect in the region ( "the land of the coyuyos" "), and tucu or tacu was also the carob tree ( "carob " ), although there is also an etymology in which tucu would be "limit, where it ends" and is associated with the Kingdom of Tucma, "place where the Inca empire ended to the south"; There are also anecdotes that suppose Tucu Mana ("nothing of everything") an expression of denial as a response to the Inca about the few riches of the territory, or to the Spaniards, for the lack of gold and silver.
