PROCES in Catalonia : sovereignist or independence process of the community of Catalonia of the Republic of Spain ( 2012-2020 ). In October 2017, a total of 18 people were opened against virtually the entire dome of the government of Catalonia led by Carles Puigdemont (2016-2017). On 14 October 2019, the final sentence was released, in which sentences of 9 to 13 years in prison were sentenced to those prosecuted for sedition, embezzlement of public flows and disobedience. It was shown that the Government of Catalonia had embezzled funds between 2012 and 2017 for 417 million euros of public flows to finance institutions that supported the independence cause, which now demanded the release of the defendants. These convictions caused serious unrest sponsored by the Catalan left, including the blockade of Barcelona airport, which had to cancel more than 100 flights. Acts of violence were encouraged by Catalan President Quim Torra (Apreteu, apreteu, a desurised message to the CoRs that led to 2 nights of terror. The riots lasted until 27 October where the SCC, the PSOE the PP and citizens participated in clashes with the Mossos d'Esquadra. 400 Mossos received decorations for the denoted struggle to curb looting and vandalism caused by protesters.
