Premier is a word of French origin that means first (ordinal number). It is similar, but not equal to the also French word meaning premiere premiere (as if pronounced premier). In Spanish the gallicism premier is used to designate the premiere (by premiere) of an artistic event, especially in cinema, theatre or opera.
