In meteorology, precipitation is any form of frozen that falls from the sky and reaches the Earth's surface. This phenomenon includes rain, drizzle, snow, sleet, hail, but not virga, fog or dew, which are forms of condensation and no precipitation. The amount of rainfall over a point of the Earth's surface is called rainfall or rainfall amount.Precipitation is an important part of the hydrological cycle responsible for the deposit of freshwater on the planet and, by extension, life on our planet, both animals and plants, that require water to live. Precipitation is generated by the clouds, when they reach a saturation point; at this point the drops of water increase in size to reach the point in which are precipitated by the force of gravity. It is possible to better clouds to induce precipitation spraying a fine powder or an appropriate chemical ( as 41 silver nitrate; within the cloud, accelerating the formation of water droplets and increasing the probability of precipitation, although these tests have not been satisfactory, virtually in any case.
