From the Greek parabolos, daredevil, daring, which is exposed. Member of a brotherhood of the early church that altruistamente attending the sick and bury the dead as it did in the plague of Cyprian in the mid-3rd century Alexandria where 60% of the population died. It is known that it was not the bubonic plague but not what was the real cause. The parabolanos ended up being the personal guard of the Bishop of Alexandria to fanatical ended up destroying the Temple of Serapis and killing Hypatia.
