It is one of the common names of an edible plant and used as feed in fish farming. It is well known in Central America, Colombia and Venezuela. Many common names: taro, ring, bore, camacho, chonque, macabo, mafafa, mangareto (or mangarito), mangará-mirim, mangarás, ear of elephant, rascadera, taioba, reinhoud, yaro, and taro. Its scientific name is Xanthosoma sagittifolium and belongs to the Araceae family. The scientific name means that it has leaves shaped arrow.
