Another lousy interpretation of what is a synonym, this time to be a starving man. But I must admit that even with his lack of spelling (it must have been "not having to fall dead in") I like it better as a phrase than the other versions already defined as "not having someone to fall dead for" or even "not having someone to fall dead about".
